Mavourneen is an Irish Gaelic term of endearment meaning “my beloved”. This is a fitting name for our farm, that has grown out of our love for each other and a shared love of nature. We started growing plants and vegetables together back in 2015, on the land where Rachel grew up and we have been slowly building our business ever since.

Jonas Carpenter

Jonas is an Indiana native, born and raised in the beautiful Hoosier forests. Growing up digging in his grandparents’ gardens, he has always had a passion for soil, plants, and food. After taking a permaculture design course in 2010, Jonas began diving deep into the world of holistic land management. This path has led him to landscape design, teaching others how to garden, building and construction work, and organic vegetable farming. Through working with nature he wants to help communities discover the abundance and happiness that comes from living in harmony with the ecosystems around us.

Rachel Beyer

Rachel got her start as a vegetable grower at the Michigan State University Student Farm in 2009.  She has since managed a variety of educational, organic farms around the mid-west and spent several years working in local food system development for the Purdue Extension Nutrition Program and the City of Bloomington. Some of her favorite projects have included helping to launch the Purdue Student Farm, fundraising to expand the Bedford Community Garden, and facilitating the start up of the Bloomington Farm Stop Collective. After many years of balancing an off-farm job and part-time farming on the side, she is grateful to be based at home now, helping to run the business and taking care of our sweet little toddler, Iree Rose.
