Jonas Carpenter

Jonas is an Indiana native, born and raised in the beautiful Hoosier forests. Growing up digging in his grandparents’ gardens, he has always had a passion for soil, plants, and good food. Since taking a permaculture design course in June of 2010, Jonas has worked with systems ranging from small urban lots to broad-scale farms. As a certified teacher he hopes to empower others to take the leap into becoming more resilient and involved individuals, discovering the abundance and happiness that comes with living in harmony with the ecosystems around us.

When he is not busy with B&R, Jonas and his wife Rachel, also manage a small produce and cut flower farm called Mavourneen. This project was started to test the boundaries of traditional organic farming and permaculture. Rachel and Jonas aim to create an example of sustainable agriculture that will inspire others to steward land in ways that give back to the planet and provide livelihoods. Though they are still in early stages of development, they are sure of good things to come!
